I can hardly believe it's been a month since my last post - shame on me! So what's new?
Well, we did a very modest October Change for Change fundraiser, but even with only putting out about 1/5 of the banks we did in July, we've already received $111.78 in donations, and there are still 3 banks out there yet to be retrieved and counted. The largest change contributor this time donated $37.18 in change, and the smallest donation of change was $3.00 - but probably the most precious so far, coming as it did from an 11 year old girl! Each contribution makes a real difference and we are so grateful. We also have been absolutely bowled over by a very kind offer
of a sizeable donation from a long-time supporter of Giving Kids. For the first time ever,
we will have all 200 kids we had planned for this year funded before December - heck, before
the middle of November! This allows me to focus any last-minute donations toward making sure
that we have more than enough gifts, so that even the very last child to go through the
program has an excellent selection of gifts to choose from, and to focus my own resources
toward overhead.
We are going to be able to add a fourth school this year! We will be able to accommodate 30
kids at T. Elementary, 60 at A. Elementary, 60 at M. Elementary, and now we will be offering
our program to 50 kids at C. Elementary for the first time. It is so exciting to see Giving
Kids grow like this! A big virtual round of applause to all of our kind and generous donors,
and our outstanding volunteers and school staff liasons who make this possible - thank you from
the bottom of my heart for sharing my vision, and for also sharing the work of making that
vision a reality.
