We got some great gifts from Akron for Moms, Grandmas, Dads, and Grampas. From Target's dollar section we got some great kids' gifts.
We have started our October Change for Change fundraiser, and I hope we'll have a great month, as we did last time.
I have also identified which gifts we still need to purchase. The total number of gifts we still need is 262, but I also like to have extra, so that the last child to go through the program has just a large a selection to choose from as the first. This means that we need not only the 262 gifts we are short (for the 1000 gifts we intend to provide to serve 200 kids this year), but also 80 or so additional items. Next I'll post some of the new gifts we've just recieved from our Akron Novelty Company order. I've decided that resistance to blogging is futile - and it's a great way to update you all on what's new with Giving Kids! I've created a gift inventory matrix that is proving quite helpful in seeing what types of gifts we have enough of, and what we need more of, etc. Giving Kids has come a long, long way from the days when my inventory was the contents of a single plastic storage bin, and I had no idea what category of gifts I had or needed - we put out what we had and invited kids to shop!
I will share with you the categories of gifts that we've identified, though our years of experience: Man (General), Dad, Grampa, Woman (General), Mom, Grandma, Girl 4-8, Girl 9-13, Boy 4-8, Boy 9-13, and Very Young Child. These categories are helping us to direct the donations we recieve from you in the most appropriate direction, and to insure that the last child who shops with Giving Kids has the same great selection and wonderful experience that the first child does. |
